After updating Windows 10 22H2, the Dell Thunderbolt Dock WD22TB4 stopped displaying video on any ports once Windows 10 loads. Video works fine in the BIOS, Diagnostics, and the initial loading of Windows 10 but then stops once Windows 10 loads to the login screen. This issue has been experienced at multiple locations and you are likely here to figure out how to resolve it.
The easiest way to resolve no video from the Dell Thunderbolt Dock WD22TB4 in this situation is to uninstall the last Windows 10 Cumulative Update (KB5023696). Here is how to uninstall the update.

  1. Click the Start menu and select Settings.
  2. Select Update & Security.
  3. Select View Update History.
  4. Select Uninstall updates.
  5. Locate the most recently installed Security Update under the Microsoft Windows group.
  6. Select the update and click on Uninstall.
  7. Wait for the uninstall process to complete and then reboot the computer when prompted.

This next process may or may not work for you, but it will allow the current Windows Security updates to remain installed keeping your system more secure. Follow these steps to uninstall the USB controllers and USB Connector Managers.

  1. Click the Start menu and search for the Device Manager app and open it.
  2. Scroll down to the bottom of the list and uninstall each of the following devices in the Universal Serial Bus controllers list.
    • Intel(R) USB 3.10 eXtensible Host Controller – 1.2 (Microsoft)
    • Intel(R) USB 3.20 eXtensible Host Controller – 1.2 (Microsoft)
    • USB Root Hub (USB 3.0), there may be more than one to uninstall.
  3. Uninstall the UCM-UCSI ACPI Devices found under the USB Connector Managers
  4. Reboot the computer.

After the computer reboots, Microsoft Windows 10 will reinstall the devices automatically that you just uninstalled. Both processes noted here were tested as potential fixes for the video connection on the docking station after installing the March 14, 2023—KB5023696 (OS Builds 19042.2728, 19044.2728, and 19045.2728) update causing the video issue.
